World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest 

The Memphis in May World Championship Barbecue Cooking Contest has been recognized by USA Today as the “Most Prestigious Barbecue Contest.” This four-day competition in downtown Memphis draws hundreds of teams around the world to compete for the title of World Champion. This is a great festival in a great city. Take advantage of being downtown Memphis and hit up Beale Street for some live music, drinks and some cool history.

Colorado BBQ Challenge

2020 will mark the 27th year for the annual Colorado BBQ Challenge in Frisco, Colorado. Not only will you experience the best BBQ in Colorado, there are tons of events. Entry to this family fun event is free. Enjoy free concerts, pig races, chef demos, street performers, and much more. The Colorado BBQ Challenge is a Kansas City Barbeque Society sanctioned competition that can attract over 30,000 people.

The Cedar Rapids BBQ Roundup

This four-day event located along the Cedar River in Cedar Rapids, IA happens in the month of June every summer and draws national BBQ vendors from as far away as Florida and Texas. There is plenty of fun to be had with events, games, and music. On Saturday during the festival, there is the BBQ Roundup Beerfest. This is your chance to sample over 30 local beers from the top Iowa brewers. Sunday is Family Fun Day with all sorts of activities for the kiddos.

Windy City Smokeout

Put this event on your calendar now! June 10-12, 2020 is the Windy City Smokeout. According to the New York Times, this is one of the “Top seven festivals to visit in the world.” Twenty of the world’s best pitmasters keep the BBQ coming all weekend as you enjoy some of the best country music from artists like Chris Young, Old Dominion, and Cole Swindell to name a few. BBQ and country music is not complete without an ice-cold beer and there is plenty of it from national and local breweries. 

The American Royal

Right in our back yard is The American Royal. Held in Kansas City, MO, The American Royal began as a cattle show in 1899 and has since become an annual eight-week event with rodeos, livestock shows, equestrian events, agricultural activities, and you guessed it, a BBQ competition! Scheduled for September 12-15, 2019 the World Series of Barbecue is celebrating its 40th year as the world’s largest BBQ. Held at the Kansas Speedway, this event is full of events and activities. Enjoy live music, delicious food, and kids’ activities. Don’t miss this awesome event!
